Steven J. Dick, Ph.D.
Steve

professor, writer and analyst. Currently, Dick is a semi-independent analyst
in social science and media.
I use the barn motif as an indication of how our expectaions should exceed our respect for communication technology. Too often, we talk about new media with undue respect. Placing new media in a metaphorical barn is my way of putting the technology back in its place. The technology is a tool and we should treat it as such. Sometimes, the tool is simply not good enough.
