WARNINGS about me

Yes, like everyone else I have my own quirks.

First, I like to use proper vocabulary. Many test questions will check to see if you REALLY understand the words. That means you must go beyond simply repeating a definition to understanding how it is applied. At the same time, please use correct words in your writing.

There may be a lot of reading -- especially in graduate classes. Be ready and keep up.

I do not like to give extra credit so do not plan on it. I give you enough to do. Sometimes, I have some extra credit but is usually very difficult for the work and time. Rarely does it make up for really bad grades.

Lectures are not designed to duplicate texts. Please plan on doing the reading and coming to class. I expect that you will be ready to discuss the reading in the classes that they are assigned.

I make assignments and expect the work to be done without second warnings. Get your calendar in order and do your work on time.

I do not put up with academic dishonesty. Don't test me on this.

I assume I like and respect you. I expect the same from you.

I do not like the lazy or intentionally stupid. I hold you to the same standards as you future employers. Would a useful person be able to accomplish what I ask?

I have a significant hearing loss in my right ear. Please note that I will may turn my head to hear you in my left ear -- especially during tests.

I am VERY forgetful. One of us must remember so that is your job. Please follow up with e-mail and other reminders.

Outside of the class, I am often distracted and thinking of a million other things. It is not that I do not like you, I may not be aware you are even there.

While I do not like sucking-up or false attention, I assume you are interested in the topic. I encourage you to talk to me on topic. Your grade is improved if I know who you are.
